Stan Lee and The Stan Lee Foundation invite Talenthouse designers to submit their designs for the official logo for the newly formed charity. The logo should clearly represent the Stan Lee Foundation as well as Stan’s dedication to the literary arts. Please keep in mind that your design must NOT include any Marvel characters – please create a design that is original and unique! Now, on to the good stuff:

√ travel and accommodation to New York
√ an award for your logo at New York Comic Con
√ a chance to meet Stan Lee
√ your design will be used on the charity’s communication pieces & may be used as its service mark

One of the world’s most popular fashion wholesale and retail companies, Nine West, has partnered up with us to launch an international call for artists and designers.
They have identified 3 themes for their Spring fashion line: New Military, Living Color, and Under the Sea and are inviting Talenthouse artists and fashion designers to create artwork for this collection. This is open to all mediums of art/design including digital, painterly, illustration, and watercolor.
Three winners will be chosen and their artwork will be put into production by Nine West and featured on products such as rain boots, flip flops, handbag linings, and t-shirts. These products will be sold on www.ninewest.com and at select retail stores. The winning designs will also be showcased on Facebook! So exciting!
We know how difficult it can be to get your foot in the door, so we’re happy that we’re able open doors like this for artists around the world!

Hanna Balcerak is our Featured Artist in Fashion this week and is studying fashion design in Berlin. She is currently developing her skills in industrial knitting which is her greatest passion. She has won several art and design awards and has had her work showcased in various exhibitions. Congrats, Hanna!
After many, many weeks of anticipation around the Talenthouse offices, we are very happy to announce the launch of the Florence + the Machine Invite!
In this Creative Invite hosted by LuckyMag.com, Florence Welch, lead singer of Florence + the Machine, invites Talenthouse fashion designers to design a stage outfit for her. The winning design will be worn by Florence at a performance at Terminal 5 in New York!
Deadline for submissions is Oct. 4, 2010 with voting taking place Oct. 5-8, 2010. The selected designer will be announced Oct. 14, 2010. The submissions will be judged by Florence, her stylist Aldene Johnson, and Lucky Magazine’s Creative Director Andrea Linett. And there are plenty of rewards to go around:
- The winning designer will receive $500 in cash, transportation to New York, a 2-nights’ accommodation at Soho House NY and will also meet Florence and the band backstage. - The People’s Choice winner (top vote-getter) will receive a special edition jewel box designed by Florence and Faye Sawyer. This jewel box will contain the band’s new album Lungs, and an envelope with hand-drawn artwork by Florence containing a personal handwritten letter. - The top 10 runners-up will each receive a signed copy of Florence + the Machine’s new album, Lungs. - The top 5 ‘judges choice’ designers, will be mentioned on Luckymag.com.

Metal-core band, The Devil Wears Prada, teamed up with us and invited all designers, graphic artists, painters and fans to design a new band T-shirt to be sold exclusively on their online store. They asked these artists and fans to come up with a design that best interprets what the band means to them. And they chose André Trindade’s Three-Eyed Wolf as the winning design!
André is very excited to be the chosen winner for this Invite. He currently works as a freelance illustrator in Portugal and mostly designs t-shirts, posters and album covers for bands and clothing brands.

Ashley Tolusic is a Junior at the University of Florida where she is studying Advertising. From a very early age she was meddling in art supplies and during high school she was the yearbook layout and design editor. She doesn’t want to sit behind a desk her whole life, she wants to travel and be inspired… she wants to take the world by storm with her creativity. Currently she is building her portfolio for future jobs while in school and is excited to share her artwork with everyone!

Sarah-Jane Hedges is an incredibly passionate freelance footwear designer inspired by contrasting themes and loves to challenge conventionality in her designs. She graduated from the London College of Fashion last summer where she received her BA in Product Design and Development for the Fashion Industries: Footwear.
In 2007 she took a year out to work in Montreal, Canada as a designer for a prolific high street retailer, Le Chateau; and then went on to create styles for the designer brand Fornarina in Civitanova Marche, Italy.

Talenthouse invited artists all around the world to reinterpret the Talenthouse icon (“Adinkra”). Artists had the creative freedom to change the colors, style, materials, etc. as they saw fit while keeping the same structure so the Talenthouse icon could be recognized.
Lara is a trained advertising graphic designer, but she has always been passionate about digital art. She says she never goes anywhere without her camera, as she loves to capture everything that may be useful for creating computer images. Her design will be purchased by Talenthouse for $1000 for the rights to use it in promotional materials and sold on products in our shop, and be seen around the world! Congratulations, Lara!

Ashkahn Shahparnia is a Los Angeles creative whose works are collectively iconic, memorable, and sly. He likes to express his vibrant pop-punches in a mass of media and expressions from design, illustration, and hand-drawn. Some of his clients and press have included Beautiful/Decay Apparel, BPM Magazine, Capitol Records, and Urban Outfitters. Marc Javier is a fun, talented, and witty artist and photographer from California. He is a self-proclaimed “micro-documentary” and iPhone photographer and also a graphic designer. He loves black and white photography because of the deep shadows.
Marc is influenced by a plethora of things including fashion, street art, music, his own creative process, and from overheard conversations.
