Sascha Ehrentraut is the creator of the Signature Illustration Blog. It was established mainly because he loves art and all things that explore creativity. With a never-ending interest in the creative fields in work and life, he was excited when his girlfriend returned back from a trip to London full of all sorts of inspiration which led to the idea of starting a site that would be a collection of artists, illustrations, and other inspiring work.
“In a sense Signature Illustration has developed my passion and harnessed a deeper knowledge the illustration/art scene.”
Sascha is a huge supporter of blogging and recommends it to anyone. He firmly believes all it takes is being passionate about your topic(s) and speaking about what you already may know. By blogging you will increase your depth of knowledge which in turn will increase your passion for it. For Sascha, blogging is more about exploration and being able to share what he finds and then in turn people share their ideas and knowledge about that topic.
For his website, he gathers content from dozens of RSS feeds, illustration publications, and posting some of the brilliant artwork that is sent his way. If you’d like to learn more about the Signature Illustration Blog or would like to have your work featured, either visit his website or support him on Facebook and Twitter! Thanks for supporting us, Sascha!

Racer LeVan is a painter who attended the Art Institute of Chicago, where he thrived explosively for those four short years. He currently lives in Chicago creating as much as possible and taking every possible exhibition opportunity with gratitude and excitement.
Congratulations to both of these artists on being featured this week!
Featured Artist, Robert Olsen, mostly paints in oils, draws, and makes watercolors. He received his BFA from the California College of the Arts and his MFA from the University of California in Los Angeles where he currently resides.
Bao Ly was motivated to begin painting again after last Christmas, when a friend bought her a basket of brushes and paint. Since then she hasn’t been able to set the paintbrush down and would love to be able to paint for a living for the rest of her life. Her paintings represent emotional feelings through the expressions of colors and textures. To Bao, great art is that which offers an experience than goes deeper than intellect.
We’re proud to have the beautiful piece of art above hanging in our offices!
Our second Featured Artist of the day, Jacob Livengood, is a graphic designer and freelance illustrator living in sunny San Diego, CA. He is heavily influenced by 80s and 90s cartoons as he tries to capture that fluid, bright animation on canvas through his own techniques. He says that painting has unlocked a whole new world for him… as he puts it, “if painting were a person I would kiss it.”
Jacob has been featured on websites like Behance, Coroflot, Juxtapoz, and now Talenthouse! These features are what drives him and pushes him as an artist every day. Jacob’s biggest achievement thus far has been designing a recycling bin for the Coachella Music Festival, which you can check out on his artist profile!
We encourage you to have a look at Jacob’s artwork on Talenthouse and hope you enjoy it just as much as we do!
Our first Featured Artist of the day, Bryce Bowman, describes himself as a laid-back guy who likes meeting new people. He is interested in designing website layouts, band merchandise, album covers, flyers, logos as well as photo manipulation and touch-ups.
He is always looking for some creative criticism so have a look at his work and let him know what you think!
The Art Department partnered with Talenthouse earlier this year to offer select artists TAD scholarships for the July 2010 Semester! The artists were asked to submit up to 3 pieces of their artwork to be considered.
The winner of the full scholarship ($45,000) is Alexandra Maramitefrom Romania. Her heavy use of lines and shapes in her submission pieces “try to reveal the essence of humanity and simplify it all together”. Alexandra has yet to decide whether she will study from her home in Romania, or on-site in one of the The Art Department’s locations worldwide.
The following artists will also be receiving scholarships —
Congratulations to all of the Artists that were selected by The Art Department to receive these various scholarship opportunities!!! As a scholarship winner, each of these artists are invited to attend TAD’s online instructional courses, to give them an opportunity to hone their skills and network with other creatives from all over the world!
Designed and taught by more award-winning faculty than any other art school, TAD develops artists into their greatest potential and prepares them for successful careers. Options are available to learn exclusively online, in-person or a hybrid of both. TAD has schools in Austin, Berkeley, Kansas City, Richmond, and San Francisco for those interested in on-site study. For more information on TAD, visit www.theartdepartment.org

One of our Featured Artist’s this week, Gavingo, is an artist from the Dominican Republic. He received his degree in Graphic Design from the University UNPHU in Dominican Republic as well as a Masters in Fine Art Degree from the University of Barcelona in Spain. And it was during his studies when he began drawing and painting.
Gavingo’s paintings are a result of the simultaneous experience. He says that acrylic has been the medium that has allowed him to express best the sensations he is looking for. He currently paints and teaches Artistic Expression which he has been doing since 2008.
Please check out Gavingo’s Talenthouse profile to see more examples of his colorful artwork!
